Mary “Betty” Allen peacefully passed to her Heavenly Homecoming on March 10, 2022, at the age of 101 (she would say, “pushing 102”). Betty was a social butterfly who loved life and those around her. She started her life in Massachusetts, crossed the U.S. during the Great Depression to settle with her immediate family while a teenager in Southern California.
Married at 19, she was a homemaker, enjoyed family events, and joined several organizations where no one was ever a stranger. She was a fundraiser for her favorites, and overseer of the Cancer Dressing Stations in CA. After her husband passed, she was employed by L.A. County Courthouse until retirement. Betty joined family in Wichita, KS, after her historical and adventurous life.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, her husband, Walter H.Allen, recently her son, John H. Allen of Amarillo, TX, along with nephews dear to her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne M. Allen of Wichita, KS, grandson, David (Emma), great-granddaughter, Megan, and several more nephews and nieces.
“Mama Betty” became a part of Faith Community Church in Wichita, KS.
Celebration pending with her love of worship.
