Laverne Joseph Kraus, 88, born August 12, 1928 in Ransom, Kansas the oldest child of Albert and Helena (Gronniger) Kraus, passed away September 13, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Kraus; sisters: Bernetta Eck and Patricia Kraus; great granddaughter Scarlet Katie Glasgow. Laverne served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, was a foreman with the Cudahy Packing Plant for 25 years, Auto Dept. Manager for Montgomery Wards for 15 years and was truly the most loving dad, grandpa and great grandpa. He was a compassionate man full of wisdom and knowledge; He never knew a stranger and will be forever missed. Survivors: Wife of 65 years: Mary Jane (Dunegan) Kraus; Children: Sara (Jim) Peters, Rebecca (Bob) Leis, Andrew (Julie) Kraus; Jenifer (Grady) Glasgow all of Wichita, KS; Karen (Steve) Smith of Leavenworth, KS; Paul (Tammy) Kraus of North Las Vegas, NV, brother Albert Kraus JR of Garden Plain, KS; sisters: Mary Lou Stephenson of Oklahoma City, OK, Rita Chalmers of Southwest Harbor, ME, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 7pm at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Chapel at 201 S. Hydraulic. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 16, 2016 at 1pm at All Saints Catholic Church, 3205 E. Grand, Wichita with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
