Hard to believe it has been 4 years since we last chatted, John. Until Valhalla...perimeter secured!

Met John & his girls fishing at a great pond , a day enjoyed! It was hosted by another super Vet.  (Dave) Everyone had a great time & caught so many fish!  My husband Mike “Doc” & John attended the same Group at the VA.  He & the girls came once to clear snow for me when my husband was out of  town.  I was in need & he stepped  up.  He cared! They worked hard as it was a heavy snowfall.   He wouldn’t hear of taking $.  I ended up giving a hug to each of them.  I never will forget him as he also helped my husband in many ways.  They visited us again even when we moved from Wichita.  Always there if you needed him. I respected him & am thankful to have known him.  A great loss! I am John's oldest step-daughter. We never saw eye to eye.  But i had the upmost respect for him.  I met john when my mom said one day, we were out shopping i was 16 or 17. I looked like a college student. We went to the North Rock bar. I was a teen at the time and seeing my mom with some guy, i thought okay, he is definitely different. I was happy to see my mom look like a teen with a massive crush. I knew from then this man would be in our lives. I am greatful for lessons learned and heart ache taught. He helped me become the person i am today.

Met John when my husband and I were stationed at McConnell after working AWACS in Okinawa and Tinker for 8 years. Of course John being a Tanker guy was asked me where I was from and what I worked. Once knowing that, he asked me what the "heck" I knew about Tankers. Needless to say, I proved I could learn the "little ole tanker" and pro super it just as well as anyone.  He laughed and told me AWACS was no Tanker; I told him he was right...AWACS was a a bigger PITA and tougher platform. Boy did his face turn red. LOL! A few months later, I was promoted and took over as Lead Pro Super...John worked for me. He walked into my office and closed the door...he told me he had no problem with me as lead pro, and if I needed anything, just let him know. We earned the other's respect...that sentiment followed him and I even after we both retired a few years later. He was always sending out Buddy Checks, and making sure the perimeter was secure. Rest easy John, we have the perimeter...until Valhalla Dear Friend!

I arrived at a frigid  Loring  AFB in Northern Maine  Jan 7 1989,rife with  unease, and without a  trace familiarity  in sight,upon leaving the intiatial  orientation  of the 42nd OMS squadron, I spyed a truck in the parking lot  with a SLAYER sticker:I found a brother!I asked who this badass was=The Airman giving the tour replied "Sgt Sekula".So I  sought the man out,and turned out to be as cool as imagined. THANKS JOHN.

I first met John in 1982 in the Air Force . We attended the same school together learning our craft to be the best mechanics the Air Force ever had .  He was so very confident and so very intelligent. Once we graduated we where in the same squadron 42 OMS from 1982 until 1992 . I left for an assignment and John stayed at Loring until it closed in 1994 .  In 1994 I received an assignment to McConnell Air Force Base . As I walked through the door the first person I saw was John . The first words where and the hell have you been and we started back and forth like we never where separated . We where trained and raised from a different cloth and that’s a testament to the hard nosed supervisors we had at Loring . Giving us the tools to become the best mechanics the Air Force have ever gained .  He was opinionated and very vocal not using words to beat around the bush so to speak . I spent 18 years out my 20 serving with John and without hesitation he made me a better man . I want his family to know john was not a dime a dozen . He was a true leader giving his all to make all those around him better .  He gave his all for our great country and for that he’s a hero . John I love you my friend, keep a close eye on us we may need your guidance once again . 

Wow! I can't believe that John has passed. I remember him as a very young boy while I was in high school who could always bring a smile to anyone's face. He was wise beyond his age, even at a very young age, loved his parents & sisters, and his grandparents! I was so proud of John when I heard that he had joined the Air Force and, from what he told me, was extremely happy that he had decided to make that his career. I love you John....God speed!!

So sorry for your loss of John. He was a wonderful man and a loving father. Fly high.

John and I were both crew chiefs stationed at Loring. We pulled alot of Alert Duties together. He was a good friend and I always admired John for his hard work and devotion to his country and his family,sadly my friend I will miss you, God bless you and your family. Rest in peace my brother. 

John and I were stationed together at Loring AFB, ME. He taught me how to be a Job Control member supporting the Deputy Commander for Maintenance.  Everything I knew about job control, I owed to John. A great human being and excellent SNCO! You will be missed, my friend! 

I remember when his grandmother (my mother) gave him his first skateboard.  He  caught on real quick as to the balance and the thing was sooo skinny!  He loved that thing and he rode it all the time.  He must have worn down its wheels in under a month.  And all the times she would take all of us to the beach and he would be gone all day trying to catch fish or crabbing  He loved those days! We Love You John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
