Doug Pausewang

Douglas “Doug” Ray Pausewang passed away at home in Wichita, Kansas on Thursday, the 3rd of October 2024 at the age of 65. Doug was born March 9, 1959, in Topeka, Kansas, son of the late William Pausewang and Celia (Handley) Anderson.

Doug grew up in Tecumseh, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1978. He later attended Washburn University in Topeka where he studied computer programming. In his early years he worked for DuPont in Tecumseh and Kansas Automotive Warehouse in Topeka. In 1999 he moved to Wichita, Kansas to be closer to his brother Dale. He attended Wichita Area Technical College for computer-aided design and drafting. He then went to work for Professional Engineering Consultant’s in Wichita as a CADD Technician until his retirement in 2018. In 2001 he moved to Garden Plain, Kansas where he bought the home that he loved.

He grew up always camping and vacationing with family and friends. This is where his love of being on the water and boating began, loving to water ski and even parasailing with his buddies and brother. He played fast pitch baseball also as a young adult, golf and snow skiing amongst other things. He was an avid racquetball player his entire life, and it seemed that no one could beat him. He loved dogs and cats alike and had several as faithful companions over the years.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Dale Pausewang of Wichita, Kansas, sister, Vannette Shunk (Jeff) of Horton, Kansas, step-mother, Jan Pausewang of Brownsville, Texas, cousins and many wonderful lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Pausewang, Celia (Handley) Anderson, grandparents, several aunts and uncles in Kansas and in Texas.

Simply put, Doug was a private, caring and sentimental man. As well as a great brother and friend to many and will be greatly missed!
