Dorothy attended public schools in Rossevelt and Hobart, Oklahoma. After high school, she attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, where she studied general sciences and mathematics.
Dorothy was united in marriage on July 25, 1965 to Ronald "Ron" Collins in Hobart, Oklahoma.
Dorothy worked as an high-school math and science teacher in Holyrood & McLouth, Kansas, worked at the engineer department at Beech Aviation in Wichita, for Moody Engineering Company, then during her adult life, she worked a numerous amount of years at Bethany Presbyterian Church as a secretary.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, William and Icy Blackwood; along with her sister, Beulah Milam.
She is survived by: her loving husband of 59 years, Ron Collins; her children, Brian Collins, Cynthia "Carter" Collins and Cheyenne Leon; her grandchildren, Skye Nguyen and Azucena Leon; along with many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Bruce Newton, Wichita.
