He married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Collins on July 3, 1954 in Gentry, Arkansas. They were married 56 years. To this union 4 children were born: Timothy David, Teresa Darlene, Thomas Dale, and Teddy Dwayne. David made the decision to follow Jesus Christ at age 18. He became a devout Christian, David chose to live out his Christian testimony in the workforce. He was ordained by the Assembly of God as a Pastor to Pastors. Being very mission minded, David devoted his life to ministries with the Assembly of God, being a youth leader of the Christ Ambassadors (CA’s), the Royal Rangers, (as well as Outpost Council), a dedicated deacon of 63 years at Bethel Life Assembly of God, Teen Challenge Ministries, hospital and visitation ministries. At his departure, he attended the TAGG Church in Goddard, KS.
At age 20, David became employed at Cessna Aircraft in the Tool and Die Division. He worked his way to foreman. After 41 years, David retired in 1995. He was best known for his monthly Bean and Cornbread Luncheons for his department workers.
While at Cessna, David developed and designed many pieces of fabrication still used on planes today. The planes he helped design are the Cessna T41, T51, T6, 150, 152, 170, 172, 175, 177, 180, 182, 185, 187, 188, 206, 207, Stationary 7 & 8, 208, 210, 303, 327, 510, 525, 550, 560, 650, 750, CH-1 Skyhook Helicopter, Cessna XMC, the Bell V22, as well as designing tooling for Boeing. He was especially proud of the Cessna Citation. David was a leader in the development of Composite Material as his works are posted in The Society For The Advancement of Material and Process Engineering-Advanced Materials/Affordable Processes, he spoke at conferences for the industry, and wrote Composite Papers for Purdue University. His department designed and made the patterns for the Priazzo Pizza pan (Pizza Hut), heat panels for the Space Shuttle, and high defining glues used in plane construction.
David was a “jack of everything”, loved working on Volkswagen bugs, especially the early 1970’s models. He built a Winnebago Motor Home from the ground up, loved to fly Cessna airplanes, was a member (past president) of the Cessna Flying Club and Cessna Photography club, loved to garden, and water ski.
With all the magnitude of a genius mind, his first love was always Jesus Christ and his family which included yearly vacations, and trips to Arkansas to visit family.
