Dannie R. "Dan" Sanders, age 66, retired Textron Aviation/Beechcraft Experiment Avionics Technician Lead, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Kansas Medical Center, Andover, Kansas. Dan was born on July 6, 1954, in Bainbridge, Maryland, the son of Melvin George and Leona Mae (Holt) Sanders.
In 1972, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and was honorably discharged after serving three years.
On January 1, 1976, Dan married Nannette Joy (Locke) in Mansfield, Missouri. To this marriage was born two daughters, Carrie and Nicole. Dan and Nannette were married for 42 years until her passing on February 18, 2018.
On November 24, 2019, Dan married Linda (Hoida) in Wichita.
Dan was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast, making many trips to Sturgis and participating in non-profit poker runs and the annual Wichita Toy Run. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gun and knife collector, and patriot. He spent many days in Facebook jail due to his outspoken, non-filtered posts. He loved his family; especially his grandchildren and grandpuppies.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Melvin G.; his wife, Nannette Joy; and brother, Larry.
Survivors include: his mother, Leona Sanders, Wichita, Kansas; his wife, Linda Sanders, Maize, Kansas; daughters, Carrie and husband, Ryan Wolke, Andover, Kansas, Nicole and husband, William Maness, Ft. Worth, Texas; siblings, Debbie Adams, Salina, Oklahoma, Gary and wife, Susan Sanders, Wichita, Kansas, Sherry and husband, John Bollinger, Wichita, Kansas, Melissa and husband, Norm Thompson, Bellevue, Nebraska; grandchildren, Mackenzie Maness, Jude Wolke, Ashlyn Maness, and Hudson "Bubs" Wolke; grandpuppies, Chubby Bubby, Suri, Jacie, and Buddy II; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street North, Wichita, Kansas. Private Funeral Service will be Friday, January 15 with burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army.
