Catherine "Cathie" Stevenson

Catherine "Cathie" Stevenson, 94, passed away January 19, 2018. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland and resided the last 50 years in Kansas. Her husband Charlie preceded her in death. Cathie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survived by her children Eric (Jean) Goodwin, June (Carl) Gemino, Heather (Jack, deceased) Wilson and Robert (Becky) Stevenson; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Catherine and Charles Stevenson and family left Glasgow, Scotland, where they were born and raised, for a better life in Canada in 1952. After several years they arrived in the United States, finally settling in Wichita, Kansas in 1967, where she resided with family until her passing on January 19th, 2018. They became naturalized citizens of the United States, a fact she was very proud of.

Catherine was a member of the Encouragers Club at her church, Central Christian. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Lung, Heart and Cancer Associations, Rainbows United, The Starkey Association, and various other clubs and associations.

She was also an avid gardener, whose landscaping and gardens were the envy of the neighborhood.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren :

Jason ( Dawn ) Goodwin, Sean ( Larissa ) Goodwin, Shannon Goodwin, Christopher ( Leys ) Gemino, Michele ( Matt ) Egan, Cathie ( Kyle ) Hillian, Clay ( Krista ) Wilson, Cal Wilson, Ryan ( Trisha ) Stevenson, Matthew ( Emily ) Stevenson and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 1:30pm, Lakeview Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
