Philip J. Komp, 83, of Wichita Falls, Texas died Friday, August 27, 2010 at a local hospital. Funeral service has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiated by Father Hoa Nguyn.
Interment with military honors is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the United States Government Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Philip was born April 27, 1927 in Charleston, Arkansas to John J. and Clara Verkamp Komp. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1971. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls, TX. He enjoyed fishing and spending time in his tool shed creating many items. He loved his God; his family; his church; and he proudly served his country.
Mr. Komp is preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Komp in 2003; his parents; and eight sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara Komp; sister, Leona Komp of Ft. Smith, AR; sons and daughters-in-law, Kirby and Cleo Pitman of Ft. Worth, TX, Charles and Joan Pitman of Bothell, WA; daughter, Nancy Bradley of West Monroe, LA; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX with a vigil beginning at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Deacon Roland Benoit.
