Lyndall was born on January 30th, 1942 in Denison, Texas to Marshall Bernard Ritchie and Goldia Alice Pearson. He married Donna Whitecotton on April 16th, 1965 in Wichita Falls. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a party in 2015. Lyndall went to work for the United States Postal Service shortly after graduating high school. He started out as a letter carrier before becoming a supervisor in the early 80's. He retired on February 1, 2001. He then went on to work at Texhoma Christian Care as a driver and took residents to various appointments for the next 10 years.
In his younger days, he enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, and traveling. He was an avid ESPN watcher, (actually any channel that was airing a sport - baseball and football in particular) and loved his Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. In recent years, he developed a form of ALS and had been confined to a wheelchair. He entered Texhoma Christian Care as a resident on April 21st, 2014 and as of this past Sunday had been there for 10 years. His disease was progressive, and he had lost the ability to do much for himself but, wow, was his mind and sharp wit still all completely intact! He continued to show us that this past weekend. His family would like to acknowledge the entire staff of Texhoma Christian Care Center who took such great care of him for the last 10 years; his nurses, aides, activity staff, (he loved playing some Bingo), therapists, hairdressers, van drivers, maintenance guys, those who cleaned his room, washed his clothes, etc. That room was home for many years and these people and many others made it feel that way for him.
Along with his parents, Lyndall was preceded in death by the love of his life, Donna; and his brother Owen Ritchie.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Martin (Bill); son Darren Ritchie (Marsha); sister Sheila Cinko-Austin (Mike); brother Tommy Ritchie (Kim); grandchildren Ryan Martin (Beth Anne), Sara Martin (Taylor), Tyler Martin, and Marley Ritchie; great-grandsons Korbyn, Maddox, and Haysen Gray and numerous nieces and nephews.
