Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Tenth and Broad Church of Christ with Larry Suttle officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Frederick Memorial Cemetery in Frederick, Oklahoma.
Leta was born in Clarita, Oklahoma to George and Anna (Scott) Hedrick on May 8, 1917. She worked at the Court House in Frederick then at Haliburton in Ducan before coming to Wichita Falls where she began working at SAFB. When she was 40 years old she decided to go to college in Abilene at ACU to earn a degree in accounting. After graduating she returned to SAFB to teach accounting to new Air Force recruits. She loved teaching and made many friends while there until her retirement. Leta started a hospital visitation group after her retirement and she led this group for 25 years. She always held an annual appreciation dinner for participants of the group. She loved to cook, bake and make candy and would do this ahead of time for her dinner. Christmas was a big opportunity to shower her friends and family with lots of gifts to show her love. Leta was a member of the State of Texas Poetry Society and was President of the local chapter. She won many awards over the years for her poetry. Leta was blessed with a long life and gave of herself from her heart generously. In return her spirit and love touched many lives and she will be remembered and loved by her family and many friends.
Leta is preceded in death by her parents George and Anna.
She is survived by her nephew; Raymond G. Hedrick of Bakersfield, CA., niece; Gloria Clark of Half Moon Bay, CA., great nieces; Angela Saris of Scottsdale, AZ., Alison Burnham of Prescott, AZ., and Amber Hayashi of Mesa, AZ., great-great nieces and nephews; Jacob, Keegan and Ingrid French, Zoe Saris, Edward and Kelsey Burnham and Sabrina Birch.
