Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
He was born on Nov 6, 1929, in Empire City, Oklahoma to Thomas F. Gilbert and Hattie B. Alexander. He fought a good fight and always kept the faith. A strong man of faith, courage and strength who persevered over the years with a body worn from serving his country for nearly 30 years in the Air Force through tours of duty in Vietnam, Korea, North Africa, Thailand, Okinawa, and beyond. He will be greatly missed but we are thankful he is now perfectly whole and in the presence of the heavenly father he loved. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie Gilbert, a brother Jesse Gilbert, his children, Johnny Gilbert, Debbie Worrell, and Donna Phillips, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers, and 2 sisters.
