Joe David Nield was born March 9, 1954 in Wichita Falls, TX and passed away March 27 in Las Vegas, NV., his home away from home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 6 at Hampton Vaughn Crestview Funeral Home with Mark Kennedy officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at Hampton Vaughn. Joe graduated from Hirschi High School in 1972 and proudly served in the US Air Force and the Air Force Reserves.
One of Joe's fondest memories was raising Walker Hounds with his Dad where they won many trophies and appeared in and on the cover of Hunters Horn magazine. He loved family, spending summers with his Aunt Libby and Uncle James in California and traveling with his brother, James and family to California, South Texas and Colorado, where Joe actually fell into the Fall River.
Joe was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated several Texaco, Exxon, and other service stations as well as car washes and a gas hauling business. Joe was also a real estate investor with his most recent endeavor of owning Old Town Saloon. He enjoyed the friends, staff and the patrons that became friends. You could say "he had his fingers in a lot of pies!"
Joe and Gayla loved entertaining friends and family. He loved cooking and grilling and she loved hosting. Together they had great fun with Friendsgiving, 4th of July, football and so much more! Going out to eat was Joe's favorite hobby and you better believe that every hamburger he ate was the Best one he ever ate! Joe was generous and loved big! He was a marshmallow in a walnut shell.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, David Pim Nield and Mary Kathryn Tedder Nield and his Aunt Libby Johnson.
He is survived by his love, Gayla Aldrich, his brother James DeArmond and wife Linda, Uncle James Johnson, nephew Dennis DeArmond, nieces Darice DeArmond, and DeeAnn Grider and their families. Joe was also privileged to have so many great friends including Charlie Berry and Beth Sweet and his life long friend, Danny Foix. Additionally, Joe leaves behind his pups, Emmy and Sassy. In the words of Joe Nield..."Everyday is a Bonus!" He will be greatly missed!
