Joe Douglas Mitchell, 77, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home with graveside services held at 1 PM on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Burkburnett Cemetery in Burkburnett, Texas with Timmy Burney officiating. A reception will follow at The Man Cave.
Joe was born December 5, 1944 in Marietta, Oklahoma to Oliver Pierce and Sarah Bird (Tipton) Mitchell. He married Lois Polk on January 10, 1964 and owned J and L Garage. Joe loved racing and restoring cars, but most of all, spending time with family and friends in his shop and at The Man Cave. He especially loved his grandkids and the time he was able to spend with them.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Lois Mitchell; son, Todd Mitchell; brother, James Mitchell; grandchildren, Lacey Shepherd and husband, Richard; Kasey Mitchell and wife, Lindsi; Brandie Mitchell and Brady Tole; Tiffany Mitchell; Steven Mitchell and wife, Ashley; Noah and Nicasia Groserode; and 23 great grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
