James L. "Jiggs" Stewart Jr.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday July 9, 2012 at Floral Heights United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 Sunday July 8, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Jiggs was born January 23, 1926 in Gurdon, Arkansas to James Luster and Floy C. Stewart. He was a graduate of Gurdon High School where he was valedictorian and then went on to earn his Masters Degree from the University of Arkansas. Jiggs was married to the love of his life , the former Ruth E. Adams of DeQueen, Arkansas. He spent his entire career in education beginning as a high school teacher and coach and then at Midwestern State University from 1963 to 1989 as Dean of Students, Vice President of Student Affairs, Vice President of Administration and ending as Vice President of Administration Emeritus. Jiggs was very active at Floral Heights; working with the food pantry, the Latchkey program, singing in the Chancel Choir, and teaching Sunday School. He served as a team member training new tutors for the Adult Literacy Program of Wichita Falls.

Jiggs is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Dave Stewart.

Survivors, his wife Ruth; daughter, Janet Reynolds of Dallas, Texas; son, Jim Stewart of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughters, Erin Reynolds of Dallas, Texas and Hillary Larbus of Columbus, Ohio.
