Donald E. Northcutt, 92, longtime resident of Wichita Falls died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Plano where he moved to be closer to his daughters just over a year ago. Services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Don was born December 16, 1919 in Medford, OK to Edward D. and Sibby E. (Cravens) Northcutt. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII and the Korean Conflict, retiring after 20 years. He married Evelyn Lucille Walls July 19, 1944 in Colorado City, Texas and two daughters were born into this union. He earned an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences at Gainesville Junior College. He also attended Midwestern State University and Wayland Baptist University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education with a Major in Management and a Minor in Marketing.
Don worked 23 years in Civil Service as an Instructor, Technical Writer, and Educational Training Specialist. He was a former member of the Sunrise Optimist Club, the Red River Computer Club, and National Rifle Association. He was an amateur HAM Radio Operator providing support for the Hotter-Than-Hell 100 Bicycle Ride and the local storm spotters. He was a member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church. Most of all, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He leaves a void that can never be filled. He will be dearly missed and will live on in our hearts forever.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Evelyn Northcutt of Plano; devoted daughters and sons-in-laws, Jann and Chuck Mullinax of Dallas, TX, Kelle and Steve Huddleston of Pottsboro, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Harold Deichman of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren and spouses, Tori and Alex Sodek, Stephanie and Ray Smith, Tyler Huddleston; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Sodek, Reed Sodek; and two nieces, Sherry Deichman and Dee Friar.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, 12:00-1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
