Babs was born in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Sul Ross University, where she met her husband Tom. They married in 1968. She’ll be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, businesswoman, and friend.
After graduation she worked as a dental hygienist before obtaining a Masters in Education from Midwestern State University, where she went on to work as an associate professor in the dental hygiene program for 25 years. She also loved cooking and seeking out rare finds. Alongside her teaching role, she worked as an entrepreneur, running both a catering and estate sale business with her best friend Melissa Hogan.
Her children Ann and Ty knew her love for them in the way she showed up- for school pickup, for booster clubs, at the lake- a constant presence throughout their lives. A love for rescuing four-legged “children” added more than 20 dogs to their family. An animal lover to the core, she took great joy in caring for whichever dogs were in the mix.
Once she became a grandmother, Babs was happiest searching for rocks and baking cookies, and on a Saturday night you could find her snuggled in bed with her granddaughters for many a sleepover, popcorn and movies not optional. She gave thoughtful gifts and made sure they had what they needed.
A love of reading is a legacy Babs passed down to her children and grandchildren. You’d rarely see her without a book.
Babs lived a beautiful, full life, and we miss her.
In her memory please consider a donation to the Wichita Falls Humane Society.
