Robert C. Hayes, 55, left his earthly home and was welcomed into the presence of his Savior on Monday, October 18, 2021. Robert was the loving son of Roger and Mary Ann Hayes of South Montrose, Pennsylvania, and was married to his soulmate and the love of his life, Joyce (whom he affectionately called ‘Joycee’), for 32 years. A classically-trained and gifted pianist and arranger, Robert met Joyce while performing together in the Chamber Singers at Clarks Summit University … and thus began their life of making beautiful music together. He began his ministry as Minister of Youth and Music at Calvary Baptist Church In Binghamton, NY, and Gospel House Church in Walton Hills, Ohio. They traveled nationally and internationally while sharing their music of hope and encouragement through Concerts of Worship and Praise, ministered for a season at Montrose Bible Conference, and ultimately were invited to serve as Artists-in-Residence at America’s Keswick Christian Camp and Conference Center in Whiting, New Jersey. It is there that Robert and Joyce have faithfully shared their love of Jesus through song for the past 21 years, whether through singing duets together or through Robert’s masterful and worship-invoking playing, often from memory. Robert was one of the kindest, most humble, and gentle people you could ever hope to meet. He was very intentional in his relationships and cared for others in a way that had a lasting impact. Robert was incredibly witty and had a great sense of humor, had an infectious laugh and a radiant smile, was fiercely competitive, loved chocolate (especially fudge), enjoyed antiquing, camping and walks on the boardwalk. Aside from his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his greatest earthly love was his family. In addition to his wife, Joyce, he leaves his cherished sons, Jordan (Michelle) and Carter, as well as his two grandchildren whom he adored, Noah and Molly. Besides his parents, Roger and Mary Ann Hayes, also left to treasure his memory are his siblings and their families: Sarah (Jon) Young, John Hayes, and Karen (Guy) Parrish; brother-in-law, Bruce Sparks; sister-in-law, Lynne (Bill) Jahns; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Phyllis Sparks; and many special nieces and nephews. Robert leaves countless friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at America's Keswick Auditorium, 601 Rt 530, Whiting, NJ 08759. Services will begin at 4:00 PM at Americas Keswick Gymnasium.
