Gerald (Jerry) T. Dwyer, 80, of Naples, Florida and Whiting, NJ died March 26th from Leukemia at his most loved home in Naples with his beloved wife, Bonnie (Stephenson) by his side. Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Atlantic City as a child and was a graduate of Holy Spirit High School class of 1951. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Florence Dwyer, previous wife, Nancy and sister, Rosemary Carpino. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons and their wives, Dr. Boyd and Susan Dwyer of Frederick, MD and Daniel and Cherie Dwyer of Ocean Township, NJ, his sister, Patricia Hayes of Richboro, PA, his wife’s children Ginny Kinneman (Bill), David Harris (Ellenina) and Debbie Gelnick. He leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Gregory, Michael, Kevin, Alex, Ian and Abby Dwyer, Emily and Abby Kinneman, Zane Harris and Megan, Rachel and Benjamin Gelnick and several nieces and nephews.
During his career he held various accounting positions in the Atlantic City Comptroller’s office, the Atlantic County Treasurer’s office and the accounting firm of Touche-Ross. He became Chief Financial Officer at Atlantic City Hospital, which subsequently became the Atlantic City Medical Center and Atlantic Care, until his retirement in 1993. He then joined the firm of McFaul and Lyons as VP of Strategic Planning, and was instrumental in the sale of the firm to Johnson and Johnson. In 1997 he retired to care full time for his wife previous Nancy who passed away from breast cancer/leukemia in 1999. Jerry also served for over 25 years on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic City Sewerage Company until his passing.
He met his wife Bonnie in church on a sunny day in June 2000 and they were married on 11/11/2000. His wife gave her unwavering love and affection until his final day of passing. They had found each other- two lost souls finding Love, Peace and Contentment that will last for all eternity.
Visitation will be held at the Community Reformed Church in Whiting, NJ on Saturday, March 29th from 9:30 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Additionally a memorial service will be conducted at Community Congregational Church of Naples, FL at a date yet to be determined.
