Anthony Castagliola of Whiting NJ, originally from Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on October 24, 7 weeks prior to turning 96. Beloved husband to Antoinette (deceased) and devoted father to Joseph. Tony is survived by his son and numerous nephews and nieces. A World War II veteran, who served overseas, Tony had a career as a longshoreman on the docks in Brooklyn. In 1990, he and Antoinette moved to Bayville, NJ for retirement, later relocating to Whiting. Tony treated everyone as if they were family and there are many non-family members who referred to him as "Uncle Tony", including the various caregivers during his final 18 months. There are many memories of large Christmas dinners where family and friends shared the long table that ran through the dining room and living room in Bayville. He was always willing to help someone, even in his final days, and will be remembered as a kind soul who always said that he felt fine and expressed no complaints, even when those around him knew better.
