Karen was survived by her 3 children and their spouses Tim (Christy) Hawley, Tom (Linda) Hawley and Susan Hizelberger. Karen was blessed to be called Grandma by 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her sister, Maureen her parents John and Helen Collins, son in law Karl Hizelberger and grandson Jason Hawley.
Slight of stature, Karen made up for it with grit and determination. She loved her home and spent hours creating a beautiful and welcoming space. Flowers and decorating were her passion. The term “green thumb” was a perfect description of her talent.
One trait that was unknown to most was her lovely singing voice. Whenever Karen was cleaning or ironing and if the windows were open, she could be heard singing along with Doris Day, Judy Garland or Barbara Streisand in her beautiful, clear. soprano voice.
Karen will be truly missed
In honoring her wishes, a private cremation has taken place and a memorial service may be held at a later date.
