February 7, 1931 - February 12, 2018
Walter Otto Luka, 87 years old, passed away peacefully and into the arms of Jesus, at his home at Monarch House, holding the earthly hand of his wife, Martha. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Walter moved to Colorado with his family at a young age. He graduated from Denver West High School in 1949 and then served our country in the Army and was stationed in Korea from 1951-1953. Walter married Martha Wolfe on July 5, 1953, and worked as a picture framer for Artcraft Picture Frames in Cherry Creek for 50 years. As a man of faith, Walter served tirelessly in his church throughout his adult life. With a zeal for life, Walter loved playing games - bowling, wood working, and socializing with friends and family, just to name a few. He was also known for his "joking." His surviving immediate family members include his wife of 64 years, Martha Jane Luka; 3 daughters, Linda (Steven) Elerding of Prosser, WA, Marilyn (John) Arther of Castle Rock, and Tamara (Patrick) Regan of Aurora;6 grandchildren (Patrick Elerding, David Elerding, Joseph Elerding, Rachel Arther, Ethan Arther and Mason Arther), 1 great-granddaughter (Sydnee Martin Elerding), sister, Hilda (Carl) Wade and brothers Fred (Marlena) Luka, and Alvin (Norma) Luka. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from New Covenant Church, Suncrest Hospice, The Village at Belmar Team, especially The Monarch House, family and friends - either through prayers and/or visitations.
Services will be at 10:00am on Wed. 2/21/18 with burial to follow, both at Olinger Crown Hill.
