Our beloved Todd has passed away. He was born on December 13, 1949 in Denver, Colorado. He was born to parents Tim and Ruth O'Connell and was raised in Edgewater, Colorado. He grew up playing baseball, football, and riding his bike everywhere. He lived the small town fifties dream life with older brother Tim and younger sister Lynn. As a senior, he was first baseman on the 1968 State Championship High School baseball team for Jefferson High School. !Go Saints! Todd loved participating in so many sports, baseball being his favorite. He played football, men's fast pitch softball, old man hockey, and racketball. He loved to ski, ride bikes, and even played some golf. Todd could not swim to save his life, or anyone else's.
Todd and Debbie began dating in 1970 while attending UNC in Greeley, Colorado. They married in 1972, thus beginning a fifty one year Grand Adventure. Todd's work life started as a young man in construction. In 1973 he became a partner in ReMax Executives. He began working in management at the Colorado Auto Auction in 1992 and later the Denver Auto Auction. Todd became Executive Director of the Colorado Independent Automobile Dealers Association. In 2015 he was recognized by The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association as the Executive Director of the year. This was the first time Todd’s family realized he was a Really BIG DEAL!!
Todd's greatest joy was his family. He was always involved in both of the Kids activities. He loved coaching all of son, Tyler's little league baseball and football. Family life was full of sports, camping and dirt bike riding at Taylor Park. He loved trains, model railroading, Christmas, and humor. There was never a time when he wasn't building a house, remodeling another, or fixing something. He always had a project going. The frosting on the cake, the joy of all joys for Todd is his grandchildren, Joseph, Grace and Silas Elkinton. Papoo loves his grandkids and they love their Papoo.
To all our wonderful family and friends, your kind words and prayers have been so greatly appreciated. Todd left this world knowing he had the love and friendship of so very many great people. Our dear Todd truly was a Really BIG DEAL.
