Reginald Jack Unsell

Rex passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023 after a short illness at the age of 89. Rex lived happily with his partner of 50 years, Larry J. Halstead. Loved defined Rex, from his love of his family, especially his mother Carrie Wittekiend Unsell Whitten, his sister Sandra Joan Unsell Meyer and his step-father Chester Whitten, to love for his partner, Larry J. Halstead, to the love for his friends, especially his close friend Kathy Parsons.

Rex was born in Quincy, Illinois and raised in Barry, Illinois where he grew up with close friends and an even closer relationship with his mother and sister. He spent most of his adult life in Denver. He and Larry lived in the Cottage Hill (West Highlands) area of Denver, surrounded by friends and wonderful neighbors. They had a happy life together. Larry preceded Rex in death by only four days and now they are together again.

Survivors include Rex's wonderful friend Kathy Parsons, and Rex's sister Sandra Meyer of Illinois and nieces Carole Fulcher of Illinois and Cathy Cunningham of Texas. Other survivors include Carole's son, Michael Fulcher and his family, including Courtney and daughters; Brooklyn and Madison and Cathy's family, including her husband Blake, and daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Alex Crowley.

A joint military graveside service for Rex and Larry is planned at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Monday, December 11 at 2:30 pm. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
