Philip Edward Marchetti

A proud Italian American, Phil was born in Washington, DC. He was the youngest child of the late Philip Marchetti and Mary Agnes Fioramonti.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Catherine Kreinheder.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 52 years, Barbara Jean Young Marchetti are children Stephen Andrew Marchetti and wife Suzie Deyo Marchetti; and Michael Philip Marchetti and wife Amanda Lynn Marchetti. Phil was the proud grandfather of Kaileah (11), Liam (9) and Evan (4).

Phil is survived by his sister and friend, Lucy Ann Blanch, and husband John (Butch) Blanch. Sister-in-laws Carol Ann Thompson and Ruth Elaine Joel and Norma Sue Williams; Nieces Cherie Smith, Madrical Thompson, Beverly Joel, Stephanie Blanch; Nephews Tim & Matthew Blanch, Patrick Gardner & Ishmael Williams; and lots of wonderful great-nieces & nephews. Nephew Lamar pre-deceased Uncle Phil.

Philip graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in 1966. At the same time he studied at the National Radio Institute in D.C. He briefly attended the University of Tennessee and completed several years of study at Montgomery College under the G.I. Bill.

Phil briefly worked at the National Bureau of Standards in Gaithersburg, MD as a Physical Science Aid in 1967. That same year the U.S. Navy called him into service for his country to serve in the Vietnam War. Phil spent two years in Electronic Tech School in Great Lakes before being assigned to DDG-36, the USS John S. McCain where he spent 4 years serving at sea, including combat experience.

Phil and Barbara spent their years living first in Los Angeles and San Diego, CA. The couple then briefly continued their naval life in Norfolk, VA before moving to Rockville, MD and expanding their family with two boys. The family of four then resided several years in Poca, WV before moving back to the Washington, D.C. area. Phil and Barb resided in Burtonsville, MD, over 30 years before the pull of grandchildren resulted in their move to Arvada, CO for the last 8 years.

Upon leaving the military, Philip worked for a small company installing electronic security systems at Washington DC metro area airports, the CIA, & FBI and other government facilities.

In 1976, Phil joined Eastman Kodak in DC, where he worked until 1994. There he worked first as an Electronic Service Associate repairing large copiers (often room size) at major government accounts. He became a Technical Resource Specialist, then a Regional Specialist and a District Supervisor. When Kodak transitioned from servicing copiers to computers, Phil learned and soon excelled at repairing Sun and Apple computers.

Upon leaving Kodak, Phil used his A+ Certification and knowledge of various computers to start his own IT company – Marchetti Associates. He retired in 2013.

Phil enjoyed his motorcycles, guns, & computers. He was a jovial person who loved joking around and having fun. Phil never met a stranger and loved meeting and talking with new people.

His faith was very important to him. Born into the Catholic Church, he later attended Berea Bible Church in MD, Bible Center Church in WV, Forcey Bible Church in MD, and finally Valley Community Church in Lafayette, CO.

A celebration of the life of Philip will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, followed by a reception from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Services will be officiated by Pastor Matt Olson of Valley Community Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Valley Community Church Building Fund PO Box 1175 Erie, CO 80516.
