Matthew Louis Sherer Sr.

Matt was born in Denver, Colorado to Merritt and Helen Sherer. He grew up with his sister, Peggy Matthews. As a teen, he loved spending his time playing sports and traveling with his parents. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.

In his twenties he met April Craver. They fell in love, married in 1981, and by the late 1980’s had started a family, complete with Breanna born in 1989 and Matthew (Jr.) born in 1992. As a family they loved animals, road trips, sports, and card games. Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Matt and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Up until his passing, sports and sporting events was a common theme in family discussions and he enjoyed golfing with his son, nephew, and son-in-law; playing card games was also a main event at any Sherer family gatherings.

In addition to his wife, April Sherer, and children, Breanna Smith and Matthew Louis Sherer, Jr. and their spouses, Matt is survived by his mother, Helen Sherer, his sister, Peggy Matthews and her family, as well as his grandsons, Paxtyn and Wyatt. He was preceded in passing by his father, Merritt Sherer, as well as his grandparents.

The memorial service will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 9:30 AM. His family will be present to welcome loved ones.
