John Nelson Maddux of Denver, a former oilman, business owner, husband, father and friend died November 14th in Westminster of Parkinsons. Services are Tuesday November 30th 10:00 am at the Crown Pavilion, with entombment to follow at Crown Hill Tower of Memories. He was born June 19, 1934 in Cashmere Washington. He was educated at Cornell and Kansas Universities ’57. He joined Mobil Oil Corporation July 8, 1957. June 28, 1959 he married Marilyn Ann Hansen. He concluded 24 years with Mobil Oil as their as their Intermountain TBA Manager when The Gary Refining Corporation hired John as their Marketing Manager. Five years later he was offered a partnership with Silco Oil Company where he directed their truck stop operation until retiring in 1991. He then formed the Frontier Gallery on antique row on South Broadway in Denver, Colorado. Initially designed as a modest retirement business, it grew, however into a viable operation which he enjoyed immensely. He was a past member of the Denver Petroleum Club, Inverness Country Club, past president of the Winchester Club of America, past board member of the Colorado Truck Stop Association, and the National Collector Arms Dealers Association. His interests included his family, friends, photography, antique arms collection, and hunting. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, son John Richard of Boulder, daughter Stephanie Lynn of Westminster, and four grandchildren. Contributions may be made to The Michael J.
