Emily Allene Roche

Emily A. Lankford (known by her friends as Lee) was born April 22, 1918. She was the first child of Cecil Lankford and Isabel (Dingman) Lankford and had two brothers. The family was split up after her mother passed away when she was almost 7. She then lived for an extended time with her grandparents on her mother’s side (Manly and Ida Dingman) until her father remarried when she was about 11 years old.

After graduating from Cathedral High School and Parks Business school, she worked as a secretary/book keeper at Mercy Hospital. She married John J. Roche on August 15, 1941. Lee and John had five sons whose births were spread out between September 1942 and December 1958. The first four arrived in pairs (John Jr. and Tom,1942/44 and Jim and Mike

1949/52) followed 8 years later by Paul.

She was a loving mother/superstar homemaker, whose top priority was caring for her family. After her children left home, she was the the glue that brought them and their families back together in family gatherings. She was always concerned with their needs as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

As her major hobby, she produced over a 100 paintings with some early ones being done using oils or acrylics but most were created with water colors. These are mostly located in the homes of her children and grandchildren.

Her most routine and constant activity was prayer and religious reading. Church activities including Alter and Rosary Society, delivering communion to home-bound, and taking a 4 year course in her late 70s early 80s on the bible. She belonged to a prayer group of ladies that met regularly for over 30 years until she went to Assisted Living at a half year past her 100th birthday

A funeral service for Emily will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadettes Catholic Parish, 7240 W. 12th Ave, Lakewood, CO 80214. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 12801 W. 44th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. A reception will occur Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
