Bud owned and operated Western Bowl in Arvada for many years. He also owned Brown’s Cement. You can still find his name stamped in the concrete sidewalk throughout the Allendale Subdivision.
He married Bertha Kirkland in Bloomfield, Iowa on October 26, 1946. They had just celebrated their 68th anniversary. Bertha passed away on December, 2, 2014, just two short months ago. They are reunited again. They brought 5 children into this world: Steven Douglas (Dixie); Deborah Diane; Gregory Allen (Nancy); Susan Kay (Chuck) Gaer; and Sherry Ann (Bruce) Robertson.
He is survived by his 3 children, 14 grandchildren: Michael (Suzie) Brown, Dawn Christensen, Deena Potter, Gregory (Pam) Brown, Kara (Robert) Powell, Matthew Brown, Jack Brown, Justin Gaer, Danielle Lusk, Benjamin (Auburn) Robertson, Beth (Thomas) Kearney, Amber (Nicholas) Dowie, Abby (Cody) Green, Scott Robertson; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Gladys Houser.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Beulah Collum; a daughter, Deborah; a son, Gregory; and a grandson, Derik Keller.
Elmer was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Visitation Friday, February 13, 2015 from 1:30-2:30pm with services following at 2:30pm at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel of Peace with entombment to follow.
