Becky Williams

Rebecca Lynne Williams (Smith) was born in Aberdeen, WA, on January 8, 1937. She was the oldest of 13 children born to Phyllis and Harold Smith. Becky passed away in Wheat Ridge, CO on September 5, 2018 at the age of 81. She is survived by daughter Pat; son Bill (wife Sami); son Bob (wife Sara); and son Brett (wife Robyn); grandchildren Chris, Brian, Ashley, Wyatt, Ella, Ryder, Garrett and MaKenzie; siblings Lynda, Kathy, Norma, Philip, David, Carolyn, Debra, Donna and Denise. She is preceded in death by her mother Phyllis, father Harold, husband Douglas, sisters Laurel, Judy, and Cleo.

Becky worked at waiting tables and taking in ironing for extra money, until she met Doug. Becky and Doug were married April 26, 1965 in Reno, Nevada. She came Colorado in 1967 with Doug. Shortly thereafter, William was born (1969). During the time Bill was young, Becky also drove a school bus for a few years. The 'twins', Bob and Brett, were added to the family in 1977. Shortly after their birth, the family moved from Wheat Ridge, CO to their home in Golden, CO.

Becky took great pride in her home. Her primary focus was prepping her lawn and ensuring beautiful hanging baskets of flowers were selected for the house every spring from Heine’s market. She often held spring garage sales for herself and family members to get rid of excess items. These were scheduled on a weekend in conjunction with the neighbor’s garage sale.

Becky enjoyed taking trips. She was always excited about attending every family reunion held in Oregon. She also traveled with her husband Doug on multiple adventures including 3 hunting trips to Africa. She enjoyed time with family going four wheeling, snowmobiling and jeeping. She attended many sporting events of her grandchildren, such as football, tennis, volleyball, baseball, soccer, and rodeo. And, Becky truly loved to have her grandchildren come to her house visit, especially during Christmas.

Becky loved flowers, especially roses. She favored purple and pink but loved the red roses Doug always gave her for all special occasions, like anniversaries and birthdays. When fall arrived, her focus would change to the fall colors. She would plan and make trips to the mountains to see the aspen trees changing. Fall also sparked mom to shop for new yarn to make afghans. Over the years, she made numerous afghans for all of the family and friends.

Becky truly enjoyed the Christmas season. She spent weeks decorating her house and setting up her Christmas tree. Our Christmas celebration was always held on Christmas day, starting with a honey baked ham that Doug brought home and her freshly made cinnamon rolls. At the center of the celebration, was the gorgeous tree that Becky spent days making perfect. It was tradition for Becky to also make tins of cinnamon rolls for family and friends. She planned and organized Christmas in order to have all her family, children and grandchildren, spend the day at her home.

Becky listened to music. She would play older country music, like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Marty Robins and Merle Haggard. She enjoyed the daily delivery of the newspaper, and she would not get rid of any one of them until she made time to read them at the kitchen table. She also enjoyed taking pictures and putting pictures in albums.

Rebecca will be laid to rest beside her husband Douglas, at the Williams Estate at Crown Hill. So, while this is only a piece of what Becky was and is, through our Hope, Faith, and Love, she will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Monday, September 17, 2018 with services at 10:00am on Tuesday September 18, 2018, both at Olinger Crown Hill. .
