Arthur August Phillips died peacefully on 3/3/2020 at the memory care center of Someren Glen in Centennial, CO where he had received devoted care since May, 2018. Art is preceded in death by his wife, Ada Marie Phillips. Their marriage of 69 years was one of pure devotion & love for each other. Art is survived by his three sons: David (Alana), Mike (Diane) and Dennis (Lisa), grandchildren and great grandchildren who have all cherished many great times together with him.
Art was born in Kansas City, KS on June 12, 1925 to Louis and Sarah Phillips. Art served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1945 during WWII as a commissioned Officer specializing in Tactical Radar & Combat Information. Art worked for B.F. Goodrich Industrial Products as their District Sales Manager from 1948 to 1972. In 1972, he moved his family to Colorado and worked as Treasurer for Intermountain Rubber Industries. He also enjoyed working as an accountant for the ELKS organization until his retirement.
Art was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and enjoyed the outdoors and traveling to the mountains of Colorado for camping, fishing or just a Rocky Mt. picnic. One of Art and Ada’s favorite places to visit was Yankee Boy Basin near Ouray, Colorado when the wild flowers were in their full glory. They also enjoyed taking scenic drives to see the aspen trees or to Estes Park to get the world famous Carmel Corn.
Art was a friend to all. He would make a point to treat all with respect and gratitude and was a true gentleman in every way. He will be missed but his family and friends are thankful for all the precious memories that we will hold on to. To know he is once again united with his wife, Ada, is a comfort to us all.
