Terry joined Weymouth Fire Department in 1975 and served 47 years until his retirement in 2022 as Chief and a lifetime member. Terry absolutely loved hunting and fishing, he was a true woodsman but more than anything he truly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had the biggest heart, was fearless and would do anything for anybody. Terry enjoyed making knives, tinkering in anything and everything including small engines, he could tear anything apart and put it back together but always with leftover parts. He was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Lots of memories with Paul Weaver, lifelong friend and often up to no good, you could always find them together, if you could find them at all…they may even be enjoying a bucket of chicken!
Terry will be remembered forever by daughter, April (Ashley) Gavel; son, Stuart Melanson; stepson, Craig Nicks; brothers, Tony, Keenen, Joey, Tracy; sisters, Jocelyn, Ann, Jewel, Angela; grandchildren, Cassidy Cormier (Jesse Burns), Dylan Cormier, Elizabeth Gavel, Brandon Gavel, Kristina Melanson; step grandchildren, Emily, Laura; great grandchildren, Jack, Braylin, Aayla and Brody and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Chris.
To all the firefighters, paramedics, RCMP thank you for your courage and dedication. Thank-you to all involved in the recovery! Special thanks to all family and friends who have reached out at this difficult time.
