Leo Belanger passed away at the William Booth, Wascana Grace Hospice in Regina on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Leo was born on May 11, 1929 on a farm north west of Lampman, Saskatchewan. In 1955, he graduated from the Saskatchewan Hospital in Weyburn as a Psychiatric Nurse and worked there for over 30 years. Leo enjoyed participating, coaching, officiating and watching all sports, especially baseball. He coached many Weyburn youth in hockey and baseball. Leo loved bird watching and travelling around the southern province with his friends and Sophie doing bird counts. Leo also loved his garden and had a garden right up to the day he moved to Regina. Leo loved the art of conversation and socializing over coffee with friends and family. But most of all, Leo loved to brag about and be with his grandchildren and great granddaughter. They brought him much joy and pride. Leo was still attending their hockey, baseball, football and lacrosse games right up to his passing. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Adelard and Blanche Belanger; sister, Eveline (Rene) Cote; brothers, Edward Belanger, Raymond (Louise) Belanger; youngest son, Ronald Belanger and his beloved wife, Sophie. Leo will be lovingly remembered by his son, Garth (Maureen) of Regina, SK and their children, Matthieu (Emily), Nicole (Laird) and Christopher; great granddaughter Katherine; son, Gary, (Deanna) of Regina, SK and their children Mason, Windsor and Fraiser; sisters, Alice (Doug) Third of Estevan, SK and Rita (John) Hall of Regina, SK; sister in law, Joyce Belanger of Regina, SK as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, especially his nephew, Mark. Special thanks to the caring hands and hearts of the Wascana Grace Hospice in Regina. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leo can be made to Weyburn Minor Baseball Association or a charity of your choice. Prayers will be said on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 7:30 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 am. Both will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, SK with Father Gerry Bauche celebrating. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, SK.
