Janice where do I begin? To sum up our friendship in a short space is impossible. I was 12.5 years old when we met. Over the 42 years of friendship we became more like sisters. Our laughs, our fun and our shenanigans will never be forgotten. I could count on you and you could count on me no matter what. I was so blessed to be with you to the end, but I was NOT ready for the end. So as I plan to lay you to rest tomorrow I hope you know what u meant to me. I will say see you later but not goodbye because we will meet again and I know we will pick up right where we left off. RIP to the best friend I ever had. Your last words last Saturday to me were “Remember I Love You” and again my last words to you are the same “Remember I Love You”.

I was saddened to read Janice's obituary. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Janice at Kanuka Thuringer until I retired at the end of 2011. She was an excellent litigation assistant and her work product was always timely and accurate. She was unflappable in the face of filing deadlines for litigation files and she was always willing to assist anyone needing help. Janice was always friendly and pleasant with a good sense of humour. I feel blessed to have worked with Janice and I know her memories will be a blessing for her relatives and friends. RIP Janice.

My thoughts and prayers go to Janice’s family at this very sad time.  

I had the privilege to work with Janice for many years at the Gerrand law firm.  Not only did we work together, but also spent many happy times and laughs ... especially over a game of cards!  She had an infectious laugh and terrific sense of humour.

Janice was a dear friend, taken far too young.  Your memories of happy times spent with her with help you through the difficult days ahead.


I am so sorry for your loss of Janice.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.  I remember her from bowling when she was young.  When someone passes, they become a memory, a memory becomes a treasure.

Where do we begin to describe Janice?  Mentor, coach, expert, colleague, friend and confidant.  In the last 16 years at Kanuka Thuringer LLP, Janice welcomed new legal assistants, new summer and articling students, young lawyers and shared her wealth of knowledge freely with all.  You knew you could ask her any question and she would respond without judgement and always with patience and kindness.  She loved to teach and coach as we arrived, often wide-eyed and overwhelmed, with our first foray into the legal industry. 
I will miss not only her teachings but her wonderful smile, her boisterous laugh and her love of a good cream puff and an Angry Orchard cider at our many KT staff events.
To Calvin, Bev, Ronna  and Mervin as well as best friend Connie, I know Janice will stay with you always and watch over Madison as she grows up.
Janice was well loved by us all and will be sorely missed in the same measure.

My condolences to Janice's family, I was so sad to hear of her passing.  I had the pleasure to work with Janice for 2 years at Kanuka Thuringer.  She was always smiling and  had such a sunny disposition.  I always like talking to her about her cruises, and which one she was going on next. May you cherish all the happy memories. 

I feel so very blessed to have crossed life's path with Janice at KT. She was an extremely knowledgeable & very organized multi-tasker that took great pride in all she did. She was an excellent educator & always made time to assist others, loving the appreciation & gratitude in return. 

Janice had a great sense of humor & colourful personality that spiced up the workday with lots of laughs & fun! The 14th floor will never be the same.

A beautiful life taken much to soon. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all her family & friends. Janice will be dearly missed by all who knew her❤️

Janice and I  were life long friends. I am so thankful I was able to spend time with Janice after her surgery.  We celebrated her 61st birthday with her favorite food, ice cream. This is a time I will always cherish. My sincere condolences . She will be missed.

Janice, you will be missed by so many of us at Kanuka Thuringer.  Your friendship, your laughter, your smile, your sighs, your wisdom, your teaching, your fun watches that I always commented on and so much more.  Listening to your stories after coming back from your hot holiday trips was always exciting. The corner desk area will never be the same without you. XOXO

Janice and I worked together for the entirety of my career as a lawyer.   She and I started together at my firm on the exact same day.  Beginning of June would have been 16 years  for both of us at KT, although her experience in law exceeded that time. 

Janice was experienced and knowledgeable, and could share her knowledge with young lawyers in a productive and helpful way.      She was a hard worker, and a professional in every sense of the word.  Janice was a kind and friendly person with an infectious laugh.  

She will be sorely missed by our office. I am sorry for the loss suffered by her friends and family. 

Janice and I worked closely together for the last 15+ years. She was without peer in her ability, but that was the least important part of working with her.

Janice cared for and looked out for me and our other colleagues.  I think she liked to keep me in line and boss me around. I liked to tell her that I was the "center of her universe". Of course I was not, as Janice had a very active life full of friends, family and fun.

I'll miss her laugh and her feigned (at least I hope it was feigned) frustration with me.

I kept in touch with Janice during her illness, including a telephone conversation just before she received her diagnosis and a text exchange on the Saturday before she passed, but I regret not calling her more frequently. A lesson for us all.

Janice will have a permanent, special place in my memory. I got to work with a friend.

Janice was one of the most amazing people I've ever known. She had a huge heart, loved the law, and loved the people she worked with. Her presence in our office will forever be missed.  She was kind, and had an incredible sense of humor. You made a huge impact on my life and I will miss you dearly.

Janice was one special woman!  I survived my articles because of her and could always rely on her for guidance and support.   I credit a lot of my skills and knowledge today to her mentoring.  She will be hugely missed, in and out of the office.  My thoughts go out to all of her friends and family.

I am so sorry to hear about Janice's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Janice for a few years. She was a wonderful person and her warm personality and laugh filled the office.

Janice was the lifesaver for young lawyers; she was so knowledgeable and was eager to help her colleagues. Without a doubt, Janice was an integral part of the beginning of so many legal careers. She was almost always my first stop whenever I had a question because she was so friendly and always made me feel so welcome. 

Please accept my condolences, Janice will be greatly missed. 

Janice - you will be sadly missed by many at Kanuka Thuringer.  You will indeed be sadly missed by me.  Thank you for keeping me on the straight and narrow when working with me.  I could always count on you.
