Phyllis T. LeConche, 97, wife of the late Robert Joseph LeConche (D.1992), of Farmington, passed away on September 28, 2023, with her family by her side. Phyllis was born in Hartford to the late Joseph and Concetta (Zito) Tinnirella. She attended and graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She then completed an internship in dietetics at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City and became a registered dietician. She was employed and retired from St. Francis Hospital where she managed the employees’ cafeteria and orchestrated all the professional social events. She had previously been employed by Hartford Hospital as a dietician and while raising her three children, she taught second grade in the Granby school system. She and her family were long time parishioners of St Patrick’s Church in Farmington. After retiring she was an active “Red Hat Lady” and enjoyed a Bible Study Group.
Phyllis was devoted to her family and many good friends throughout her life and was always hosting gatherings for dinners, brunches, parties featuring her incredible cooking creations. She could prepare gourmet anything, and her desserts and cookies could rival the best bakeries in taste and appearance. She also enjoyed weekend rides around New England with her husband and children and often their frequent companions, John and Josephine Oliveri. They shared many Friday and Saturday nights together as well with John and Nancy LeConche. She was fortunate to also travel to many US and European destinations.
She was an avid reader, was always up on current events and was fun to carry on a brisk and well-informed debate on politics or other moral issues, being very opinionated and of course correct. She was fun-loving, entertaining and a great party companion loving to dance, which she did through her nineties and most recently at her grandson Robert’s wedding in 2022. She was selfless, generous, funny, and so resilient.
Phyllis is survived by her three children: her daughter Debra and her husband Joseph Pandolfe of Wethersfield and their children, John and Victoria (Jenny) Baboval and their son Arthur, Christa and Justin Piper and their children Lyla and Lincoln; Lauren and Tim Gallagher and their children Joey, Saoirse, Leo, and Ciara and Anne and Andy Nelson and their children Lucy, and John: her daughter Cheryl and her husband Scott Mahoney of Kennebunkport, ME and their children; Brendon and Kari Mahoney and their children Josslyn, Phoenix, Sterling, Gwen; Blake and Brandy Mahoney and their children Giuliana, Carrington, Penelope; Lawson and Casey Mahoney and their son Owen; Gloria and Clark Kerner and their daughter Reagan; Jaqueline and Sven Axelsson; Donald Mahoney; Caroline Mahoney and Roman Mahoney: and her son, Robert and his wife Edith of Farmington and their children, Joshua Militariu, Robert and Valerie (Durkin) LeConche and their daughter Raegan, Alexander LeConche and Joseph LeConche. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Phyllis’ recent caretakers: Valerie (Durkin) LeConche, Dorata Krawczynski and Iryna Alina, the kindness and care for our mother will be cherished and always remembered.
