Nancy, daughter of Lawrence and Sarah Doughty, was born in Easton PA, spent her childhood days growing up in Newburgh NY before moving to Wethersfield CT. There, she met her high school sweetheart turned love of her life, Jay. Their marriage of 58 years served as a model of love and adoration for the entire family.
Nancy was born with a passion to serve and care for others. She graduated with a nursing degree from UConn and spent time as a visiting nurse. After taking time to raise a family, she found many ways to enrich the lives of so many others. From volunteering at a woman’s shelter, helping with many youth programs at Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, leading women’s Bible studies, teaching preschool for 20 years, to being a care giver for elderly people in need, Nancy made it her life’s purpose to help others.
Beyond her time spent serving her community, Nancy could often be found in the yard tending her beautiful gardens, making arts and crafts projects with her grandchildren, enjoying a good book on the back porch, playing with her dog, enjoying time on the shores of Cape Cod and Ogunquit, working on elaborate puzzles and most importantly, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Jay, her three children, John D. Wolf Jr. (JD) and his wife Jennifer of Wethersfield, Tami DiGregorio and her husband Jonathan of Norton MA, and Bryan Wolf and his wife Kim of Wethersfield. She leaves her seven beloved grandchildren Molly, Jack, Ryan, Alyssa, Tyler, Emily, and Dylan; also her brother Larry Doughty and his wife Debbie of Greenacres FL (formerly of Newington) and her many nieces and nephews.
We would also like to thank the Station 2 staff at Avery Heights for their continued care during her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
A memorial service to honor Nancy will be held in the Spring of 2023 at Wethersfield Evangelical Free Church, 511 Maple Street, Wethersfield CT. Details will follow in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association; http://act.alz.org/goto/NancyWolf
