Lydia Medina known as “Mamita”, 98, of East Hartford, formerly of Manchester, beloved wife to the late Manuel Medina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Born in Barrio Planas #2, Isabela, Puerto Rico, on June 3, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lauriano Medina and Juana Perez.
Lydia was married to her husband, Manuel Medina, for over 56 years. Together, they had a total of 11 children. She devoted her life to raising her family.
A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be forever missed by her children, Isaac Medina, Jose Manuel “Tocayo” Medina, Elias Medina, Obed Medina, Esther Burgos, Rebeca “Becky” Medina, and Ruth Rodriguez, preceded by: Gladys Esther Medina, Manuel Medina Jr., Jose Antonio “Ñito” and Hector Medina. She also left behind 31 adored grandchildren, 32 cherished great-grandchildren, and two treasured great-great-grandchildren. She raised four additional children, Antonia Crespo “Toña”, nieces Gloria Rivera and Mary Perez, and a grandson, Samuel Medina, as her own.
She was a lifetime member of what is now known as House of Restoration Church in Hartford, where she served the Lord for many years. She enjoyed making jigsaw puzzles, word searches, and coloring adult coloring books in her spare time. Lydia was genuinely loved by many and will be missed. She will forever be in our hearts!
Relatives and friends may pay their respects to the family Thursday, April 25 from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m., with a Service at 12:00 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
