Betty Suzanne (Heller) Rosania of Wethersfield died on January 17, 2014, at the age of 82. She was born in New York City on November 23, 1931, to Rosalie and Ascher Heller. Betty married Edward Rosania in New York City on November 4, 1952 and they made their life together in his hometown of Wethersfield for over 50 years. Betty received her B. A. from the University of Connecticut and her M. A. with Distinction from Trinity College. She served as Assistant Town Manager and then Mayor of the Town of Wethersfield, and Director of Personnel for the City of Manchester. Betty loved the music of Frank Sinatra, her dogs, intellectual discussions, Cape Cod, where she and her husband built a summer home that they filled with happy memories, and her magnificent hometown, Manhattan. But her life’s true passion lay with her family. She is survived by her brother, Charles Heller, Bayonne, NJ; her children and their spouses: David and Pam Rosania, Rye Beach, NH; Chloe (nee Susan) and Bruce Carlson, West Hartford; and John and Lisa Rosania, Bolton; and ten deservedly adored grandchildren: Paul, Amy, Peter, Daniel, James and David Rosania, and Alexandra, Elizabeth, Andrew and Sam Carlson. Betty lived fully her lifelong conviction that we owe a duty to help each other. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society. A graveside service will be held Monday January 20th at 1 p.m. at Village Cemetery, Marsh Street, Old Wethersfield. There are no calling hours. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel is assisting Betty’s family with arrangements. For on-line expressions of sympathy to the family please visit www.desopo.com.
