Born on 10/15/1936 in Lviv, Ukraine.
Son of the late Irene (Orysia) Matejko-Rudyk and Zachar Rudyk. Brother of the late Marta Rudyk.
Husband of Vera (Zirka) Sawczynska-Rudyk.
Father to Marko (Oleksandra) and Peter (Elizabeth) Rudyk and grandfather to Mia, Andrew, John, Rudyk and Maria and Mariana Toronchuk.
His early education was at an all-boys school (Gymnasium) in Kremsmunster, Germany. After spending time at Iro-Camp (Displaced Persons) in Asten, Austria, the family immigrated to America in 1950, on the General H. Muir Navy ship. Initially arriving in Boston, MA, Andrew, with his family, settled in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. where he completed grammar school at St.Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Catholic School (Academy) and later Brooklyn Technical High, with high honors. At NYU (City College of New York) he took up engineering and was on the ROTC program. After graduating, he began his full-time working career as a Mechanical Engineer with A. Schrader’s Son, Inc. in New York City, NY and eventually moved to Connecticut in 1965, where he completed his Master’s in B.A. and was employed by Hamilton Standard and later Combustion Engineering in Windsor, CT.
He worked on many complex engineering projects such as on the first USA spacecraft module and nuclear reactor cooling pumps.
Andrew was a member of: St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford, CT.; Plast- the Ukrainian Scouting Organization; Engineering Organizations; Simsbury Camera Club; the Ukrainian Museum in NYC and Ukrainian National Home in Hartford, CT.
Andrew was an avid reader, stamp and coin collector and photographer. He had a passion for woodworking. He enjoyed gardening and grew bountiful tomatoes, cucumbers, rhubarb, blueberries and rose hips which he shared with family and friends.
To mourn his passing, beside the above noted immediate family, he leaves the families of: Rudnytzky, Temnycky, Kosovych, Tarnawsky, Fedyshyn, Hirniak, Kaczmarsky (in USA and Canada) as well as relatives in his native country-Ukraine.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday, Nov.8 from 5-7pm, with a Panachyda at 6:15 pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov.9 at 10 am, at St.Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church,135 Wethersfield Ave., in Hartford, CT., immediately followed by burial services at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 1458 New London Turnpike in Glastonbury, CT.
