Mary Agnes Downes

Downes, Mary A. (nee Marron) 81, of Wanaque, NJ, formerly of Montvale, NJ, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Mary was first and foremost about her family and friends. She was born in the Bronx, NY to Anna and Thomas Marron. She was married to the late Robert F. Downes, Sr. for 55 years. Devoted mother of Kevin and his wife Amy, Marie La Duca and her husband Robert, Madeline Henderson and her husband Bill, Peter and his wife Eileen and Robert Jr. and his wife Julianne. Cherished Grandmother of Christen, Pamela, Matthew, Ryan, Colleen, Christopher, Michael, Danielle, Shannon, Timothy, Sean, Brendan, Dylan, Ashley, Kelly and Lily. Dear sister of Rita Dougherty, Theresa Ryan and Ann Ardese. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Kevin and Gerald Marron. She raised her five children with love, kindness, honesty and generosity. She always enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was a retired waitress and very of proud of that!!! The family will receive their relatives and friends at a Memorial Mass celebrating her life at Our Lady of Mercy RC. Church, Park Ridge, NJ, Sat, April 2nd at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Mary’s Parish Food Pantry at 17 Pompton Avenue – Pompton Lakes, NJ.
