Marinko Stipanov

Marinko Stipanov, 85, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024. Born in the village of Preko, Croatia, on March 28, 1939, Marinko emigrated to the United States on February 4, 1963, seeking new opportunities and a better life.

Throughout his career, Marinko worked his way up to become a talented chef and made two attempts to open his own restaurant during his lifetime.

Beyond his professional achievements, Marinko had a deep love for nature. He cherished spending time outdoors, particularly tending to his garden and caring for his family's olive trees back home. Marinko had a strong connection to his roots in Croatia, frequently visiting his homeland to reconnect with family, friends, and the land he always held dear.

He is survived by Anka his wife of 56 years, and three children, Monica, Jakov and his wife Bo, Samy and his wife Barbara, and three grandchildren. We will remember him for his generosity, work ethic, and love of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Monday, December 9 from 5-9PM. The Funeral Mass celebrating Marinko's life and faith will be held at Church of the Assumption, 29 Jefferson Avenue, Emerson, NJ on Tuesday, December 10 at 10AM.
