Simon, John O. Jr., 64 of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ passed away on Tuesday, March 25th, 2025. John was the owner of the John Simon Instrument Company, founded by his father John Simon Sr. in 1959 and taken over by John in 2018. John worked in the business his entire life, servicing and selling microscopes. His talent in the field was well known, including his invention of a patented video microscope. In addition to his contributions to the business, John was proud of his accomplishment as a second-degree black belt in Koei Kan Karate. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and served as Master.
As he got older, John decided it was time to fulfill his dream of a music career. He performed at open mics, various venues, and was a regular busker on Friday nights for the Ridgewood Guild. John loved song writing and produced three albums of original songs. Music brought out the best in him. It was through his experiences with music that John discovered a life of reflection, compassion, and gratitude, traits by which he became best known and appreciated.
John is survived by his three children, his mother and four siblings. John will be remembered at a Visitation at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on April 3rd, with family to receive guests from 4-8PM. A Memorial service will be held there at 5PM followed by an open mic remembrance.
