John Patrick Donoghue

DONOGHUE, John P., 91, on Friday, May 8, 2015 of River Vale. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Fossati). Devoted father of Paul T. and his wife Diane; Janet E. Pralat and her husband Mark and the late Mark J. Donoghue. Loving grandfather of Trevor and Jenna Pralat. Dear brother of Ellen Binda. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, one of six children in an Irish family, he moved to River Vale in 1960. John's career in the insurance industry spanned over 50 years. He was a charter property and casualty underwriter, (CPCU) and taught at College of Insurance in New York City. John sat on the board of the Princeton Insurance Company. He volunteered many years as a board member of Pascack Valley Hospital. John was an active member of the Kiwanis Club and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy, where he served on the parish council and the Knights of Columbus, before becoming a member of St. Pius X Church. John loved music and photography but most of all he loved to tell stories. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be at Becker Funeral Home, 291 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood on Monday 7-9 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 AM, followed by a mass at St. Pius X, Old Tappan at 11 AM.
