James R. Eck, also known as “Jim or Jimmy” 64, of Bergenfield, NJ, loving father and brother, passed away on October 31st, 2021. He was welcomed home in heaven by his late parents, Charles & Evelyn Eck (née Ryan), brother Robert Eck and his nephew, Timothy Eck.
Jim was a hard worker until the day he passed, servicing residence & business owners with 45+ years of knowledge in the HVAC industry. He always selflessly offered a helping hand to anyone, friend or stranger without hesitation. He wore his heart on his sleeve, always complimenting others and made sure to say “God Bless” to anyone in passing. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Jim was born on September 27th, 1957 in Teaneck, NJ and grew up in Westwood, NJ along with 5 other siblings. For him, getting together for holidays and dinners was more than just a celebration. Family was his everything. He would rave about how close-knit his family was and that his daughters were his world. He was known for the best bear hugs and the strongest handshakes. He also enjoyed spending time at Grants in Dumont with close friends, cracking beers and constant jokes. He had a laugh that filled a room and a smile that was truly contagious. He had the biggest heart and was the guy who loved so hard.
Jim is survived by his four daughters whom he adored, Jamielyn Eck of Shamong, Jenna Eck of Westwood, Julie Eck of Emerson, and Desiree Eck of Phoenix, Arizona, his “best friend” & mother of his 3 children, Janet Eck (née LaStella) of Emerson. Also surviving are his siblings, Donald Eck and wife Karen of Twp. Of Washington, Linda Irvin and husband Daniel of Altoona, PA, Richard Eck of Altoona, PA, and Diane Angell and husband Brian of Thurman, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and of course, his fur baby Neo.
Jim will be greatly missed by his daughters, family, countless friends and the people whose lives he touched everyday.
A visitation for James will be held on Friday, November 5th from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood NJ. A prayer service will occur on November 6th at 11am, with repast to follow immediately after for friends and family to celebrate Jim’s life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in James’ memory to the American Cancer Society or Bergen County Animal Shelter, 100 United Lane, Teterboro, New Jersey 07608.
