Constantine D. Manikas, 87 of the Township of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 5, 2013. Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, he lived in the Bronx, NY before moving to the Township of Washington in 1959. Constantine was the Executive V.P. of The Slavenberg Corp., NYC for many years before retiring in 1990. He was a devoted husband and father who slept side by side with his wife Gilda for 66 years. He passed away in his sleep while holding her hand.
He is survived by his beloved wife Gilda (Barbato) Manikas; his devoted children, Jilda Manikas and Christopher Dean Manikas; his cherished grandchildren, Robert R. Auray, III, Alyson Manikas and Dean Manikas; his loving sister, Catherine Hirschenson and her husband Bernard and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visting hours will be held on Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Becker Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday 10:30am at the funeral home with the interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
