Clara Elena Jones, 50, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on Saturday, September 10, 2022. She leaves behind a rich legacy of family, friends, and lasting contributions to all she encountered. Born in Cuba, to Ela Navarro and the late Jesus Navarro. Clara immigrated to the United States with her parents at the age of 3, and ultimately settled near family in Port Chester, NY. Clara graduated from Stony Brook University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and received her master’s degree in Education from Fordham University. She then went on to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education, dedicating over 20 years to the Port Chester School System teaching kindergarten, first, and second grade.
She devoted her life to developing and educating young minds. The lives she impacted are countless. Clara is pre-deceased by her beloved husband and soulmate James Peter Jones, MD, whom she met as a fellow student at Stony Brook University. He was the love of her life, her husband, and her partner.
She is survived by the light of her life, Cody Navarro Jones, as well as her mother Ela Navarro. Clara, a devoted mother, took endless delight in the presence and accomplishments of her son. She is also survived by her Tío, Ricardo Blanco, her cousins Sandra and Mia Blanco, her in-laws Peter and Bridget Jones, Donna, John and Declan Schmidt and her entire extended family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 am at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ. Interment will follow immediately at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ.
