Ronald Wayne Grandstaff

RONALD WAYNE GRANDSTAFF, 75, of Huntington Beach, died April 4, 2019. Ron Grandstaff, son of Wayne and Dorothy Grandstaff (Blacksten), passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Ron is preceded in death by his parents and sister Judith (Cunningham). He is survived by his siblings and their families: Thomas (and Susan of Plantation, FL), Timothy (w. Lisa of Avon, IN), and Debra (and h. Greg Fisher of Logansport, IN), two sons Robert and Michael, and daughter Kari. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Cassidy (h. Sean Sullivan) and Tanner, two great grandchildren, Clark and Faye, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he also loved dearly. Lastly, Ron is survived by his former wife, Susan (Robb). Although not legally bound under the letter of the law through the years, they have never been far from one another since their marriage in 1963.

Like his father, Wayne, and grandfather, Dewey, before him, Ron proudly served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam “conflict”. After serving, Ron and Sue relocated to California to raise their family. Ron was a renowned and beloved youth baseball and football coach at Robinwood Little League and North Huntington Beach Jr. All American. He was a passionate golfer and longtime member of Seacliff Country Club. He carded two aces in his illustrious career and enjoyed many golfing vacations with his friends. His favorite vacations, however, were always with his family in his hometown of Logansport where he often stayed for weeks on end. A proud Hoosier, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and brothers in his home state of Indiana.

Grandstaff worked as a State Farm Insurance Agent in Huntington Beach for over 30 years. Like a good neighbor, his offices on Edwards and Springdale became staples in the community.

He was a wonderful father, grandfather, son and brother and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.

A memorial service and reception will be held beginning at 2:30pm on Wednesday, April 24th at Westminster Memorial Park at 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683. A burial at sea will be private.
