Marjorie was born in Great Falls, Montana to John L. Savage and Marion Ludders Savage on January 12, 1922. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Teaching Credentials from the University of Montana.
After moving to California, Marjorie subsequently became involved in property management. She specialized in the administration of new housing alternatives, managing some of the early cooperative apartments in the Long Beach area. She managed the Sovereign Park Estates Cooperative Apartments, Inc. for many years.
Leading her property management colleagues into the condominium field, she helped develop nationwide systems for the administration of community associations. She co-authored the textbook, “HOW TO MANAGE A CONDOMINIUM”, published by the California Association of Realtors and served as the Chairperson of the Experience Exchange Committee with the National Institute of Real Estate Management in 1979 and 1980.
Marjorie is a Past-President of the Institute of Real Estate Management, Greater Los Angeles Chapter No. 6. In 1979, she was the first woman president in the 40 year history of the Chapter.
Campbell Property Services, Inc. in 1975 and Shoreline Diversified, Inc. in 1990, property management firms, were founded by Marjorie. She continued to be involved in property management well into her ninth decade.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Campbell and her son Robert Roy Campbell. She is survived by the families of her niece Michelle Hoglund, Welches ,OR; nephews Mike Savage Gresham, OR, Bill Savage, Aurora, CO;
and cousins Clyde Smith, Lakewood, CA, Roger Smith, Huntington Beach, CA, and Kathryn Pugh, Huntington Beach, CA.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5100 E. Broadway, Long Beach, CA. on Tuesday, October 20 at 7:00 pm. There will be a viewing at Westminster Memorial Park Cemetery, 14801 Beach Boulevard, Westminster, CA 92683 on Wednesday, October 21 from 1:00 pm until 2:45 pm.
Internment will follow at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marjorie’s honor may be sent to: The Special Olympics, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Salesian Missions
