Lois Almedia Dove-Stevens, aged 96, passed away on September 10, 2022. Lois was born on March 28, 1926 in Robeline, LA to Bertie and Archie Dove. Her father passed away in 1933 from a work related injury which sent her and family to live with Grandmother Russell in Gregton, TX, then her final destination Santa Ana, CA. She married Marvin Smith Stevens in February 1948 and had four children; Belinda, Georgetta, Michael, and Johnny. She and Marvin lived in Union Grove, TX until 1962 when they moved to Santa Ana, CA. They spent the remainder of their lives together, until June 2000 when the love of her life passed away. Lois was a fierce woman – holding fast to her beliefs, defending those she loved, and always seeking to better herself. She had a strong Christian belief and volunteered in every aspect of the church. She was a faithful member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church. In addition, she was adventurous traveling to such places as China, New Zealand, Switzerland, as well as Las Vegas, Laughlin, and San Diego (Loved the slots!). She lived a long healthy life by staying fit by walking one to two miles daily and even water volleyball at the gym. She loved crafting such as china dolls she created, but her greatest LOVE was family which could be seen in family gatherings especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas! Her children and the grandkids and lately the great-grandkids she said was her greatest creation. Listen, we can still hear her singing Pony Boy and Love you a Bushel and a Peck.
Lois is survived by her children; Belinda Hyde, Georgetta and Randy Gans, Michael and Emma Stevens, and Johnny Stevens as well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition, 4 nieces and 3 nephews. Not only her surviving family, she shared her love and opened her home to so many others. She formed close relationships with those she considered "chosen" families, notably Lennie Long and Cassandra Carroll, Liz and Peter Coxon Family, and Baltimore Avalos Garcia family. We acknowledge our beautiful loving mother who touched so many lives while planting seeds of LOVE in everyone she knew and met in her short 96 years of life!
