To my best friend, soul mate and husband.  Thank you so much for showing me how to live and enjoy life.  You were my rock and inspiration.  You let me be me and inspired me in whatever decision I had to make myself better.  You have always been there for me and showed me how much you loved me. My father, better known as "Daddy Pooh" was beautiful in so many ways. He is my hero and the strongest man in my life. He loved whole-heartedly and never took a day for granted. I reflect on my own life and often realize how similar we both are. I definitely got my fathers adventurous and outgoing spirit. I love that I have a big part of who he was within me. He was the male role model for my daughter, his grand-baby, Kira (his Shiggy-wiggy as he liked to call her). He was a great many things in his lifetime. Although it was short lived he always appreciated life and never took a day for granted. A part of my heart left with him but he also left a part of his beautiful strength with me. I know that the presence of his spirit lies within me and the memories will live forever in my heart. I will never love a man the way I loved my Daddy. Thank you for always being there for me, no matter what. You showed me the true meaning of great strength, courage and most importantly, that Family isn't always blood. Thank you for teaching me so much in life and sharing a love that was always overflowing and abundant. Always "Daddy's Little Girl", Carleen and your little "Shiggy-wiggy", Kira. Forever in our hearts!

Papa Joe I wanted to get up and speak at your service but I didn't have the guts too. I've known you more then half my life and I've always thought you were an amazing person. You welcomed me into your family when my brother starting dating Joeleen and always made me feel comfortable when I was around you. I just want to thank you for always accepting me. Even when I was going through all my crazy phases. Not many people are like that and that's one of the things about you that I will miss the most. Every memory that I have with you is an awesome one. All the camping trips, bonfires at the beach, my first and only trip to Mexico and the wild parties that you always through at your house just to name a few. You had a smile that would light up a room and a spirit so strong it was hard to be down when you were around. I truly believe that  my life was better because I had the honor of knowing such a wonderful man like you. You remind me of my grandfather. You both had that amazing love in your heart that you wanted to share with everyone. In honor of you I would like my unborn son to bare your name as one of his names. Jonathan Gabriel Joseph Lucero is what he will be named. That's the very least I can do because of all the things you have done for me. I Love you Papa Joe and forever you will be My Scorpio buddy :) I am grateful you are no longer in pain and I know I will see you again. I will miss you until then. Please tell my Gramps I said hello.

Joe: You were truly loved and will be missed dearly. You have impacted so many lives with your joyous presence and loving spirit. Thank you so much for everything you have done and for being a real male role model in my son's life. Your home was and is like a second home for him. You took him in and treated him like family and he really looked up to you. My condolences go out to the Perez family and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Remember the good times and celebrate his life. I always remember him with a smile on his face. My thoughts and prayers go out to you in this difficult time. Papa Joe was like having a second father and a best friend at the same time. I spent most of my time outside of school at the Perez house eating dinner, cleaning the kitchen and hanging out. We talked all the time about everyday life. I've been fishing, riding, and up to the mountain for the snow. Riding around town in the back of the white Toyota. I loved knowing I always had a place to go and felt like part of a family. That is who he is for me…family.
